SOME BADIC PRINCIPLES FOR CITY AND HIGHWAY DRIVING

CONCEPTS FOR CITIES

SEE- THROUGH: While driving, you will be able to see any parked vehicles are occupied. This will prepare you for car doors that will open suddenly.
SMOOTH AND STEADY : People who drive faster and change lanes more often don’t always get to their destinations quicker. And they will wear down their brakes more than you. Just drive in a smooth and steady manner.
TRAFFIC SIGNAL: When you are first to arrive at a red light, wait a little behind the line. This way if you get rear ended you wont end up in the middle of the junction. It also gives you place to plan your escape

PRINCIPLES FOR HIGHWAY SAFE DRIVING

IT is a long road, and these simple tips will make the journey a little more comfortable.
TAILGATER: slow down steadily, he will pass by and leave you in peace.

SCAN: Always scan as far as you can seen on highways. your vision is your first line of defense. It’s better to anticipate hazards then react to them. Also watch out for unmarked speed humps.

KEEP LEFT: After overtaking a vehicle (always from right) get back into the left lane and stay there. The right lane is a passing lane. Only use it when you need to pass some one.

Leave way for others:- in case high speed or hurry vehicles seeking way give them. Let hurry go and remain in peace and safe.
Away from Paddler path:- leave extreme left lane for passenger vehicles, cyclers and Paddlers.

Leave passing lane:- extreme right lane is considered as passing lane. Especially in India.

Don't hassle:- don't cut short. Don't change lane very frequently.

FOR BOTH CITY AND HIGHWAY:

A few things work for cities and highways. This will help to remember them.

CIRCLE: Before getting into your car and setting off, walk around it  and check for damage and obstructions.

DISTANCE: Keep a safe distance between your car and the cars around you. This way, if you need to  make and emergency maneuver you won’t end up hitting another car.

PARKING: Reverse into a parking space Or drive through one to keep the fornt of your car pointing outside.

RIGHT TURNS: When your are waiting to turn right, make sure you are visible. Also keep your tyres pointed straight ahead and switch on your indicator. If you get rear ended, you will drive a little ahead instead of being pushed into oncoming traffic.

NIGHT DRIVING
Driving after sunset can be annoying, tricky and dangerous. Here is wh;at you should do in case you decide to hit the road in the dark.

LIGHTS: Make sure any dirt covering them has been washed away. Also if your car has the option, aim them so they shine on the road instead of the oncoming driver’s eyes.

NO SUNGLASSES: It does not matter how cool you think you are, do not wear sunglasses after dark. Also don’t wear the yellow – tinted glasses. If you have prescription glasses, wear those and try to get an anti-reflective coating on them.

TWIN PRICKS: animals are usually out and about at night, but you will see their eyes shine way before our see them. Slow down. Pass teem very slowly.

DON”T STARE: Especially at oncoming lights. They will destroy your night vision.

LINES: Slow down and watch the lines on the centre on the side of the road to guide you during low visibility, or when the glare of oncoming headlights limits what you can see.

REFLECTIONS: Adjust your mirrors so that reflected light doesn’t shine directly in your eyes.

HANDS OFF: Don’t wipe your windshield with your hands. The oil from them will cause a glare from street lights and obscure your vision. Use a paper to wipe your glass/

MNIMISE: Driving while fatigued is as dangerous as drunk driving. If tou are tired, pull over in safe area, stretch, take a few deep breaths and re-evaluated whether you can proceed or should stop tor the night.

EYES: If is suggested that eye fatigue while driving at night can be reduced by keeping your eyes moving. Scan all around your field of vision instead of focusing on one place.
